Ughhh…When will this happen?????
OK…I just knew this baby would be here by now! I am due on the 9th but had a “feeling” I would deliver on the 1st at the latest. Here I am - fat, tired, achy, etc and READY. Thankfully, I will deliver by Friday. I can’t go a day beyond my due date because of the gestational diabetes - for fear of a too big baby.
So, if I don’t deliver on my own by Wednesday evening, then Thursday I’ll go to the birth center for them to insert a Foley catheter. That will usually open the cervix enough for labor to start. If THAT doesn’t work, then on Friday morning, they will rub cervidil on my cervix and that will do it God-willing.
My aunt arrives tomorrow from New York City to stay for ten days to help out with my 4 year-old. I am very grateful for her help. At first I was thinking that I wouldn’t be in the mood for company but she is really coming to lighten my load.
Please keep me in your thoughts. I am still anxious to have this baby here, like yesterday (as is everyone) but I am still nervous about the whole birth center no OPTION for pain meds thang. I think I can do it…I guess …I KNOW I can but I am still scared of the pain. My birth assistant employs aromatherapy, massage and other remedies so I am hopeful. Plus, they have a jacuzzi:)
Oh…my husband signed on to provide the food for the labor staff and family who will be there to support me. This includes me, him, my son, aunt, girlfriend, midwive and birth assistant. It is so funny hearing him plan out his little menu. At first he was going to get chinese until I reminded him that if I go into labor at 2am, resturants will be CLOSED. So he is so cute talking about his meal ideas. See, at the birth center, you have to feed everyone. That is different from delivering in a hospital.
OK, well I need to go stretch my legs and visit the little girls room. I’ll have to post later about my experience yesterday at the DMV.

Ooo I had a foley .. not terrible really!!
Sending you many happy labour thoughts!!! Hoping it goes great!!!!

i had 1 natrual birth…NEVEA EVA EVA again! 1 that came on her own. hurt like hell, and 2 induced…i won’t be doing that again either but had really no pain but it just took forever and was very uncomfortable. so i decided that this one will come on its own… but i will be getting pain meds. you will be a stud if you can do it! good wishes and some on down baby vibes!

I hear walking helps to induce labor. Push ‘em out, push ‘em out, waaaaaaaaay out!

Thank God I’m not a woman. Just seeing all these comments makes me appreciate more what my wife will be going through soon. I guess the fact that I have to deal with my migraines almost ALL THE TIME is enough pain for me =
May Allah make you patient Sis… and maybe, just maybe, you might have mentioned a few too many details? Just a man’s point of view…
May Allah make it easy for you….
Your brother,
Abu Miftah
