Farts & Giggles

What is it about farts that make children laugh and giggle? My son is 5 and we never (at least I never) made a big deal about passing gas. When he does it I just remind him to say ‘excuse me’. I will get annoyed po’ed with my husband when he does it for no reason except to get me going…I’m forever telling him to leave my presence. He will do it with gusto! Almost like he enjoys it. He uses the excuse that “it just came out, I didn’t have time to leave”, etc.

Anyway. Lately whenever my 5 yo passes gas, he coyly looks at me and just breaks out in the dumbest (but cutest) giggle-fit. I guess it is inherently funny? I never thought I encouraged this. Oh well.

  1. You gotta admit, it is kinda funny when kids do it. But with adults………it’s like a nuclear bomb.

  2. you didn’t have to encourage some other kid probably did!
my son thinks its funny. i told him to go to the bathroom. and he will go if he catches himself before he lets it loose. i laugh when my girls do it because they think they cute and when they do it they have a look of surprise like did that just come out of me? then they say excuse me. i say “uhnah” and screw up my noise when the babies do it. Anna will say PU when she does it or hears someone else do it. thats cute. i hate it when hubby does it. thats just nasty. i told him he needs to go get that checked cause it shouldn’t smell like someone died in there. thats just not normal. i tried that… telling him to leave he won’t. just ignorant.
